Geek chic is in, and an essential part of this look is wearing spectacles. This means that it's important to look after your eye glasses well. Here are a few ways to do so:
Clean your glasses well: Make sure you clean your glasses at least once a day with a microfibre optical cloth, which can be purchased from an optician. Rinse them with warm water or use sprays made specifically to clean eye glasses, and then rub them gently. Never clean your glasses with clothing, paper towels, tissues or a dirty microfibre cloth as this will scratch the lenses. Allow your glasses to air-dry.
Be careful when wearing and taking your glasses off: Don't wear your glasses on the top of your head as this will distort the earpieces. Also, use both your hands instead of one when you take your glasses off. This ensures that the earpieces remain straight and are not out of alignment.
Store them carefully: Always keep your glasses in a protective case when you are not wearing them. Do not leave them lying around on tables with the lenses face down as this will increase the chances of them getting scratched. Never keep them in your pocket as they can fall out. And, of course, don't leave them on chairs or sofas as you may sit on them by accident and distort or break them.
Get your glasses adjusted at least once a year: It's best to have your glasses adjusted at an optician's as they can be realigned and checked for loose screws. Parts like worn-out eye pads can also be replaced. You can tighten your glasses at home with a small screwdriver or with the tools that come in an eye glasses repair kit.
